There has been a long love affair between Bayonne and Rugby. the “Aviron Bayonnais” Club was created on September 14th , 1904, and by 1913, the style of playing, “à la Bayonnaise” had seduced everybody. The club were France Champion, for the 1st time in their history ; just before the 1st World War - many players never returned from that conflict…
After more than a century on the front page of modern rugby, Bayonne is known for its incredible supporters, who received an award last year. The Jean Dauger Stadium is the centre of “rugby madness”, which, after a victory, spreads out through the town when everyone dresses up in the white and blue, rugby club colours!!!
